In the late spring of 2001, I had the opportunity of meeting Jorma
Kaukonen, while he was in Boulder CO playing Nick Forstersš E-Town
radio show. What followed thereafter was a chance to teach at Jormašs
Fur Peace Ranch music camp in the spring of 2002. This was a really
fun camp to teach; Rory Block and Jorma also taught that weekend.
Fur Peace Ranch is situated in the beautiful southern Ohio hills,
right along the Ohio/ West Virginia border, near the Ohio River.
During that camp, Jorma asked me to go out on his summer/winter
touring for his new and wonderful all acoustic folk/country blues
recording just completed in Nashville.
Never the one to pass up a chance to play with one of my heroes
and along with that, another opportunity for just plain fun, and
to see what it is like to live in a real tour bus, I just had to
say yes. There didnšt seem any other answer than that! So, starting
in June of 2002, I will be touring these dates and places with Jorma
, Barry Mitterhoff on mandolin, and me on acoustic dobro and wiessenborn
slide guitars-- the bassist is yet to be determined. This promises
to be a wonderful music adventure, with lots of chances to meet
new folks, musicians, artists, you name it! Here are the dates:
